Mr. Abdulrahman Sedeeq

Head of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Board, KRG

Mr. Abdulrahman Sedeeq is head of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Board in Kurdistan Regional Government. He graduated from College of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Mosul University in1989. Mr. Abulrahman Sedeeq is the first Minister of Environment of Iraq in 2003 -2004, the first President of Green Kurdistan Association for Environmental Protection in Erbil 1992, and the first presenter of the tv. program Environment and Human Beings in Erbil 1992. He is the author of the environment column in Gulan magazine since 2010 to date.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Khattab Ahmed Mustafa

Director General at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, KRG

Assistant Professor Dr. Khattab Ahmed Mustafa holds a Ph.D. in Biology/ Mycology and Mycotoxins. Currently working as Director General of Education, Planning, and Follow up in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, KRG- Iraq. He is responsible for the management of five directorates (Directorate of Student Admission Center, Directorate of Statistics and Planning, Directorate of Education and Follow-up, Directorate of Certificates, and Directorate of Career Development Centers). Therefore, he is currently responsible for all affairs related to undergraduate students in universities. From 1998 to 2012, he worked as an academic staff at both Sulaimani University and Salahaddin University. From 2012 to 2021, he worked as Director General of Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, KRG-Iraq. He has very good experience in Student Admission System as he is worked in this field since 1996 till to date at different level of responsibility. So, he is very interested in linking the labor market to university admissions plans and designing curricula according to the needs of the labor market.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawri Mustafa Baker

Dr. Hawre Mustafa Baker is Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Hawler Medical University-Erbil. He supervises all administrative, personnel, financial, and warehouse operations at the university. He proactively contributes to decisions about academic collaborations and communication with other universities and academic institutions inside and outside of Iraq. He formerly held the position of Vice President for Student Affairs at Hawler Medical University. Dr. Hawre is an assistant professor in the college of Medicine at Hawler Medical University. His research area of interest is epidemiology of parasitic infections. He has a PhD in microbiology from the college of Medicine, Hawler Medical University. A Master’s degree in Microbiology from Salahaddin University, and a B.Sc. in Biology from Salahaddin University.

Prof. Dr. Zhian Mahmood Ibrahim Dezayee holds PhD in Clinical Immunology at Hawler Medical University and an MSc at Salahhadin University. She is supervising all Scientific, Postgraduate, Certificate Equalization, Quality Assurance, Career Development Center, Center for Research and Education in Women's Health, International Relations, and Pedagogy Training Courses at Hawler Medical University. She formerly held as the Director of Postgraduate Affairs for more the 16 years and as academic staff for more than 37 years.

Prof. Dr Abubakir Majeed Saleh

Dr. Abubakir M. Saleh is professor in community medicine at Hawler Medical University. He has MSc degree in Health Care Management from University of Swansea, Uk and PhD in Community Medicine from Hawler Medical University. He teaches different courses including health administration, epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methodology. He has more than 20 publications in national and international journals. His current research work is mainly related to health services research, conflict & health, and medical education. Before pursuing the academic career, he established ten-year experience in the health care management through working as a manager of hospital and director of health sector in the Ministry of Health, Kurdistan region, Iraq.

He is Involved in different administrative and managerial tasks and committees and also involved in a number of collaborative projects with international universities in research and educational development fields.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Hedy Ahmed Hassan

Dr. Hedy Ahmed Hassan is an assistant professor in the College of Health Sciences, and is affiliated with the office of academic relations at the Hawler Medical University-Erbil. She has a PhD in Toxicology from the University of Kentucky, USA. A MSc degree in Public Health/Microbiology from Texas A & M University- Health Science Center, USA. A BSc in Microbiology from the University of Salahaddin-Erbil. She has previously held roles in the offices of quality control and the registrar, and has also served as a department coordinator, head of examination committee at the College of Health Sciences.  The researcher's focus lies within the fields of environmental health, toxicology, infectious diseases, and cancer biology.

Mr. Nazim Hamza Rasul is Senior Veterinarian, Director of Quality Control in the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources. He is KRG representative in the Kurdistan Bio-risk Management Committee (KBMC), and member of the Raising Awareness Sub-Committee. He has a BSc in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery/ College of Veterinary Medicine- University of Sulaimani, Sulaimani, Iraq,2006. Colonel Dr. Shakhawan Khalid Mawlood

Colonel Dr. Shakhawan Khalid Mawlood is Senior Forensic Scientist and Head of Forensic Laboratory at the Ministry of Interior in the KRG. Colonel Dr. Shakhawan is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in the field of Forensic Genetics and Biomedical Science. With a PhD in Forensic Biomedical Science specializing in Epigenetic Age Prediction from the University of Strathclyde-Glasgow (2012-2016), he is recognized for his contributions to cutting-edge research and innovation in forensic science. Dr. Mawlood's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Salahaddin University, Iraq (1998-2002), followed by a Master of Science in Molecular Genetics from the same university (2005-2007). He further honed his skills with a High Diploma in Police from the College of Police (2002-2003), demonstrating his commitment to integrating scientific knowledge with law enforcement practices. He also served as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist at National Health Scotland and as a Laboratory Scientist (Team Leader) at a COVID-19 Testing Center in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital- Glasgow.

Dr. Masood Abdulkareem Abdulrahman

Dr. Masood Abdulkareem Abdulrahman is Community Medicine associated professor. He graduated from Salaheddin University's College of Medicine in 1989. In 2008, he received his Master of Community Medicine from Duhok University, and in 2014, he became a fellow of the Kurdistan Board of Medical Specialties in Community Medicine. From 1989 to 2015, he worked in various Ministry of Health institutions, holding a variety of responsibilities. He was the chairman of the community health department in the college of Health and Medical Technology/Shekhan at Duhok Polytechnic University beginning in May 2015.

He has been the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technology and the Dean of Shekhan Technical Institute since December 2017. He is passionate about nutrition, vaccination, and public health issues.  He has 10 PhD and MSc postgraduate students under his supervision and has published 23 articles.

Dr. Paywast Jamal Jalal

Dr. Paywast Jamal Jalal is a Lecturer at the University of Sulaimani, College of Science, Biology Department. She received a BSc in Biology in 2003 and a Higher Diploma in Microbiology from the College of Medicine in 2007, then an MSc in Molecular Virology from the University of Sulaimani/ Biology Department in 2010. She received her PhD in Molecular Virology and Immunology from the University of Sulaimani and Nottingham University in the United Kingdom as a split site program in 2019. Her research interests include addressing different infections by viruses, specifically COVID-19, Hepatitis B and C on the molecular level. One of her research projects ranked fourth among twenty thousand articles done in Iraq during 2022.

Amin A. Bakir is Assistant Professor in Infection and Immunity at Hawler Medical University. He has Master degree in Medical Virology from Hawler Medical University and PhD in Infection and Immunity from University of Leicester, UK. He is the head of department of Physiology, Microbiology and Genetics and involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities including Microbial infections, Bioinformatics, and Molecular techniques.  He has more than 14 publications in national and international journals. His current research is focused on molecular characterization of infectious diseases and genotyping. He has previously been involved in various pathogen monitoring projects including UN-FAO surveillance for zoonotic infections in KRG and One Health program funded by North Carolina University in collaboration with Central Veterinary Laboratory in Erbil. He has also part of medical education and assessment monitoring committee in the College of Medicine.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Othman Jamal Nasrulla

Dr. Othman J. Nasrullah is an assistant professor in College of Veterinary Medicine University of Sulaimany. He has MSc degree in infectious diseases from University of Duhok, Iraq and PhD in zoonotic diseases. His current research work is mainly related to zoonosis. He is involved in different administrative and managerial tasks and committees, head of the surveillance team of infectious diseases FAO United Nations 2000. He has more than 10 publications in national and international journals. Dr. Othman organized first one health national conference in Sulaimani University as head of the organizer committee. He worked as organizer committee in the 5th European international conference of infectious diseases and chairman of the second day in UK October 2023. He was attending several international conferences in Vienna, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, and UK as a speaker. He also attends 9 national conferences. Now he works as scientific consultant for 2 veterinary companies. Recently he is one of the academic staff member in the college of the veterinary medicine, Suliamani University and head of the scientific college committee.

Dr. Kamaran Hussein Mohammed

Dr.Kamaran Hussein Mohammed received the BVMS degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq, in 2000, (M.Sc) of pharmacology , college of medicine from the University of Al-Nahrain, Baghdad, Iraq, in 2007, and (PhD) in molecular physiology at faculty of science, University of Zakho, Dohuk, Iraq, in 2021. In 2007, he joined the Department of nursing, Shaqlawa Technical Institute, University of Erbil Polytechnic, as assistant Lecturer and researcher until September 2010, and then joined the department of veterinary until now, in 2021 he became Lecturer. His research interests with antimicrobial effects, potassium and calcium channels. He is a member of the Kurdistan Veterinary Medical Syndicate.

Assistant professor Dr. Blend Barzan Ameen holds a Ph.D. degree in Family and Community Health Nursing/Epidemiology and Environmental Health from the College of Nursing/ University of Raparin in 2022. He graduated from the University of Baghdad with a B.S. in 2005.  M.Sc. in Community Health Nursing from the University of Sulimani in 2009. I worked for a 7-year respiratory and Coronary care unit at Azadi Teaching Hospital in Kirkuk. Academic lecturer and researcher in the field of Community Health Nursing Science 2013. He participated in many conferences, workshops, and seminars. He published nearly 11 papers. He is currently an academic staff member and a head of the Psychiatric and Mental Health Department at the College of Nursing/ University of Raparin.

Samir M. Othman is assistant professor of community medicine and the head of the quality assurance department at college of medicine. Dr. Samir is a medical doctor and has MSc and PhD in Community Medicine from Hawler Medical University. He has around 25 publications (in national and international medical journals) primarily in the field of communicable diseases. His research interest includes hepatitis virus infection and HIV/AIDS. He teaches epidemiology of communicable disease, biostatistics and primary health care for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has supervised a number of PhD and MSc students in the field of community medicine, community health and family medicine.

Dr. Muqdad Ibrahim Abdullah

Dr. Muqdad Ibrahim Abdullah is the director of veterinary quarantine in general directorate of animal resources and veterinary. Previously he was director of animal health for 10 years in same general directorate. He received DVM degree in 1994 and M.Sc. degree in food safety in 2016. He is responsible for technical management of 6 international veterinary quarantine and 10 quarantine between Kurdistan region and Iraqi governorates. He has experience for planning animal and zoonotic diseases. He performed multiple surveillances to determine the actual situation of diseases.
